8/9/2023 0 Comments Clock tower 3![]() ![]() Was not expecting the archery gameplay at all. I know I gotta acknowledge that this is an early PS2 title, but after just coming off finishing Fatal Frame 2 and Kuon in the last week, it’s hard not to be taken aback by how empty the scenarios feel. Unfortunately, the level design just feels pretty lifeless, and undetailed. You jump from modern day setting to following the melody of a pianist through the streets of 1940 London while bombs are actively falling. The game seems to be going for a wacky Illbleed kind of vibe, but then again I also just watched a 13 year old girl get bludgeoned in the head with a sledgehammer. Was very surprised to read that this game has input from Kinji Fukasaku, the director of the film Battle Royal and the JP segment of Tora! Tora! Tora! Wikipedia lists him as one of two directors on the game. Curious to see if there are any who love this game here or what everyone’s thoughts and experiences are with it. Anyways, I’m about a third way through Clock Tower 3, it's uh, okay. It’s fun learning the ins and outs of every scenario and exploring the web of paths to get your way to a good ending, but I just don’t feel motivated to do that nowadays. I actually ended up running through Clock Tower 2 in preparation for this and I’m honestly kind of thankful that CT3 doesn’t follow the format of the first two games. Haunting Ground (Clock Tower 4) is one of my all-time favorites, but I’d never tried the third entry till now, though I’ve heard quite a bit of negativity around it. ![]()
